This radio ad infuriates me. The homophobia is obviously offsetting, but the thing that really gets me is the blatant disregard for reason.

This video consists of lies, and lies of omission. The people who made it are liars, who are apparently deliberately misrepresenting the case to make it more appealing to people’s emotions. You can find out as much by reading the court documents, as I did.

I hate this. This creates hatred in me. I feel like ripping open the people responsible for this. In my primitive rage I feel it is justified because they, apparently, are animals too. They do not have reason or pride. I pity their children.

I am a very calm person, so this is somewhat surprising for me. I am glad that I have reason and pride to carry me through this moment.

Went cloud watching yesterday.

Armed with sandwiches, juice, grapes, and peanut M&M’s.

There may have been up to three separate wind directions. Or I may just lose track of time and space when I look at clouds.

P1040719

All the pictures have a darkish smudge in the upper left. Probably some of the junk that’s settled between the lenses in the three years and third of the globe this camera has traveled.

P1040698

Best kind of M&M’s are the peanut butter ones, IMHO.

Sometimes I talk about suddenly craving curry, and my search to find it (last night on facebook).

Sometimes I just want to say where I am, so you can come visit if you want, or ask me if dinner at Palace Kitchen was good. (today on foursquare)

Sometimes I want to talk about my struggles as an artist, or mention the heat, or something else. (??? and occasionally stonekite.net)

I think it makes sense to split all this different information into different threads of communication. This scheme provides two benefits:

  1. Messages are presented in the medium and context that best suit them.
  2. A viewer can pick and choose which threads they want to follow.

That way I will be able to write more, and you will be able to choose what subjects you want to read about.

Right now I’m thinking of 4 streams.

stonekite.net (possibly revamped)
For things about me personally. Or things that I am thinking about that don’t fit elsewhere.

An art blog for art I’m working on, and the frustration and triumphs of learning umpteen different methods all at once.

Possibly Twitter, for random things. And double posted on twitter and on facebook if I feel like it.

Possibly Foursquare, for where I am.

The twelfth was the six month anniversary party for the studio.

Our story starts on the eleventh, when we cleaned up the studio,

P1040608

hung our work,

P1040619

looked cool,

P1040612

and generally were the most awesome people we could be.

Next it’s the evening of the 12th, what’s soon to be a beautiful night on Capitol Hill:

From Drop Box

Local 1520 members mosey in an hour or so before the event starts, doing last minute chores, bringing in prizes (calculator watch, American flag bandana, bottle of Port) buying drinks and setting up food. Greg realizes we need to card people… … … (probably because our graphic designer friend now in NY shot photos for them, the Stranger used an image of Greg (age 28) being poured a glass of wine for this week’s story on cops cracking down on art galleries not carding underage drinkers)

Half an hour before the party officially starts people start showing up. Some get drafted into helping us out. We make another of our graphic designer friends draw us manicules, for example.

P1040631

P1040638

One reason we celebrated today was so it would coincide with Capitol Hill’s second Thursday art walk crowd. It’s a little hard to find our studio because it’s at the end of the hall, so this time we decided to make it a little more visible.

P1040661

^ That’s Greg’s piece of the Deepwater Horizon blowing up.

There were a ton of people all night long, and a fair amount of turnover as well. These photos don’t do it justice, especially as the studio is remarkably resistant to all-in-one shots.

P1040642

P1040644

The main event of the night was the coloring competition.

P1040643

P1040648

All entries were great, but the winning entries were great and had an extra something (second or third place winner, can’t remember):

P1040655

The night was a success by every measure. Including on foursquare, apparently, as we were a “trending event” matched only by Cal Anderson park.

That’s us, trendsetters.

P1040649

Goodbye, and see you next time!

From Drop Box

Sometimes I find notes that I write to myself:

Before you judge me, I’m reasonably certain that the three sentences on this note have nothing to do with each other. Probably. Hopefully.
